Health Sciences E-Wing - School of Rehabilitation Science University of Saskatchewan
ADA designed the new School of Rehabilitation Science on the third floor of the Academic Health Sciences E Wing, directly over the 2-storey Health Sciences Library. Special considerations were taken to ensure that noisy construction activities only occurred outside of normal operating hours to minimize disruption to the students and the Library below.
The design included:
Functional Abilities Lab, Musculoskeletal Lab, and Classroom all with a low profile raised access floor to provide power to the each of the tables without disrupting the Library below and allow for future flexibility
16 offices
Exercise Lab with free weights and exercise equipment
2 large storage rooms
Male and Female locker rooms with a movable wall section to allow for flexibility depending on enrollment each year
Treatment room
The design was able to accommodate the program requirements with a collaborative and innovative solution that worked within an existing space with area and service limitations, while still meeting current and future requirements.
The design solution has met the owner’s needs while creating an environment that is very pleasing to its users in organization, spatial qualities, use of natural light, exterior views, lighting, privacy and finishes.
